Our Mission
Love God, Love All, Be Like Jesus
As the body of Christ at First United Methodist Church, we are committed to seek God’s will and honor God and each other in all we say and do. To this end, we choose to relate to each other in the following manner:
- Show our Love for One Another by doing to others as you would have them to you.
- Pray for Each Other
- Honor and value each other as equals
- Possess a Spirit of Joy and Kindness
- Listen to Each Other’s Opinions with mutual appreciation
- Speak Clearly, Directly and Truthfully with words and tone that reflect the love of Christ
- Seek to Understand and Be Understood
- Build Each Other Up
- Build Unity, rather than uniformity, within this community of faith
- Agree to Disagree as we reconcile our differences by using the standard Jesus gives us as found in Matthew 18: 15-20

What is the worship service like?
Worship is held in the Worship Center at 11:00 am. While we engage in a more traditional service, we strive to maintain a welcoming and inviting atmosphere.
Which door should I enter?
The primary entrances are the doors facing Main St. There are also doors located to the side of the sanctuary on Academy St. and Main St.
Where should I park? Is there handicapped parking available?
Parking is available on the downtown streets and in the former Drum Funeral Home (The Odd Duck) parking lot directly behind the church on the corner of Sycamore St. and Academy St.
For those guests who may have mobility issues, we offer valet parking services from the covered portico, located on Academy St. by the Education Building. Assistance to the Worship Center via the Breezeway through the Middle Building is also available.
What should I wear?
We are a diverse congregation where most are dressed casually, but a few choose to wear their Sunday best. Feel free to dress in a way that is comfortable for you.
Is there Sunday School?
We offer Sunday school for all ages from 10:00 am until 10:45. Nearly all Sunday school classes are held in the Education Building, with the exception of the Crave Class, which meets in The Annex, located on Main St. next to the sanctuary.
Adult Sunday School classes are offered on the 1st floor of the Education Building (Good News Class, Men’s Bible Class and Church Ladies Class), as well as the Crave Class in the Annex (AX).
